Hamish is a two-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer. He's a black-and-white dog which, according to the AKC is a trait "to be severely penalized". Hamish does not set much store by the AKC, and certainly does not allow their criticism to interfere with his responsibilities as lover of children, harrier of cats and companion to Chloe, his Weimaraner housemate.
Born into a solid hunting family in Kansas, Hamish learned about the pursuit
of fur and feather at his mommy's knee. But his responsibilities towards his human family took him to California, where the frisbee and the seagull are game birds. Chloe entered his life soon after his arrival in the Golden State, but Hamish remains Chief Dog in Charge and keeps Chloe firmly in her place.

In his puppyhood, Hamish's nose and paws accounted for a significant proportion of his body weight. Here's what he looked like before he grew into his nose.
